Questions

1. Where are you located?

Little Pumpkins Playcare is conveniently located within 5 minutes of Route 7, Interstate 88 and the NYS Thruway exit 25A in the town of Rotterdam.
2. Is your daycare registered?

Yes, my daycare is registered with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
3. Are you CPR/First Aid certified?

Yes, I am certified in both CPR (infant, child & adult) and First Aid.
4. What ages do you care for?

I provide year round care for children from 6 weeks old to 4 years old. I also provide after school care for children ages 5-12, however I do not currently offer care during school breaks for school age children.
5. What are your hours?

My daycare is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm.
6. Do you provide part time care?

I typically only enroll children between 6 weeks and 5 years old on a full time basis however I may consider part time enrollment on a case by case basis. For children who attend school full time, I offer part time care during the school year.
7. Do you close on holidays and snow days?

Yes, I follow the Schalmont School District calendar for all holiday closings. If Schalmont schools are closed due to incliment weather, the daycare will also be closed for the day. Parents will be provided a calendar at the beginning of the year and then monthly with all upcoming planned closures.

8. Do you have a substitute or a backup provider for days that you are closed?

No, parents are responsible for finding backup care for all daycare closures.
9. What are your rates?

Tuition rates depend on the age of the child. Please call or email for more information about tuition.
11. Do you give discounts for siblings, military, etc.?

No, at this time I don't offer any discounts. All of the children receive the same level of quality care regardless of their family situation and it would be unfair to charge some parents more than others.
10. My child will be home with me during summer, maternity leave (etc.), do you charge a fee to hold my child's spot open?

Yes, I charge a holding fee equal to 1/2 of their regular weekly tuition per week to hold a spot open during extended absences. Planned or unplanned absences of 2 weeks or less are the full weekly rate and are not considered to be extended absences.

I accept payments by cash, check and automatic bank transfers.

My program is considered to be "Play Based". I believe that children learn best when given time to play and use their imaginations. While we do participate in organized educational group activities, my program places the emphasis on creative playtime.
15. Do you smoke?

No, my home is a smoke free environment. I ask that all visitors respect that and refrain from smoking and/or vaping on or near the premises.

Yes, the outside play area is fenced, very large and has many activities to help children get exercise and fresh air.

Yes, there is a swimming pool on site. The pool is above ground and is measured by an OCFS Safety Inspector annually to make sure it remains at least 48" tall at all points. In addition there is a working pool alarm in the pool as well as a separate unit in the kitchen that will alert when the outside alarm is triggered. The ladder to the pool is flipped up and locked during daycare hours. As an added layer of protection the children play in a separate area of the yard and they will be blocked from the pool area by a fence.

I do not provide meals however I do provide an afternoon snack as well as all drinks.
